40-Year-Old Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital Starts Remodel Constructions While Its Physician Offices Turn Five

Release Date:

September 27, 2012

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Today, September 27, 2012 the Physician Office Building, located on the Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital campus, will celebrate five years of caring for the community with a barbecue lunch for staff from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The building includes family practice, several specialty clinics, a laboratory and x-ray services all under one roof to facilitate better coordination between physicians and their patients. The $24 million project was completed in September 2007.

In 1970, Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital was a $3 million project that was built to meet the healthcare needs of Albuquerque’s Northeast Heights residents. Forty years later, Kaseman Hospital is beginning a remodel. The $11.5 million project is currently underway and is expected to be complete by February 2014.

The remodel of the Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital will be completed in the following four stages:

  • Stage One – Outpatient Rehab Services
  • Stage Two – Ancillary Services, such as administration and admitting
  • Stage Three – Additional Ancillary Services, such as inpatient rehab and onsite gym
  • Stage Four – Operating Rooms and Hospice

The architect for the project is KGA Architects from Albuquerque. A general contractor has not been determined for stages two, three or four.  The majority of the work will focus on stage four, renovating the operating rooms and units associated with pre-operative and post-operative care. With the planning phase and stage one underway today, the main construction will begin in February 2013 and at that time all surgeries will be relocated to Presbyterian Hospital on Central Avenue or Presbyterian Rust Medical Center in Rio Rancho.
