ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – On November 16, 2017 National Rural Health Day, Presbyterian Healthcare Services celebrates healthcare providers who care for patients in rural areas across New Mexico. This year, we highlight the success of three Presbyterian rural hospitals recently named 2017 Top Performers by The Chartis Center for Rural Health/iVantage Health Analytics and the National Organization of State Office of Rural Health (NOSORH).

  • Presbyterian Española Hospital in Española, New Mexico was named a Top Performer for Excellence in Patient Outcomes.
  • Socorro General Hospital in Socorro, New Mexico was named a Top Performer for Excellence in Patient Outcomes.
  • Dr. Dan C. Trigg Memorial Hospital in Tucumcari, New Mexico was named a Top Performer for Excellence in Patient Satisfaction.
  • In addition, Dr. Albert Kwan of Plains Regional Medical Center, Dr. Stephen Otero of Lincoln County Medical Center and Dr. Eileen Comstock of Socorro General Hospital were among 30 physicians honored by the New Mexico Department of Health for their work caring for rural New Mexicans.

"This is a wonderful recognition of the hard work and dedication of our care teams on behalf of their patients," said Troy Clark, Vice President, Regional Operations, Presbyterian Healthcare Services. "National Rural Health Day is a great opportunity to recognize the many healthcare providers who care for our rural communities across New Mexico."

This year, 8 New Mexico hospitals reached top quartile performance in Patient Outcomes and Patient Satisfaction, when compared to all acute care and critical access hospitals in the country. Rankings were determined by iVantage Health Analytics' Hospital Strength INDEX™, which assesses rural hospital performance across the country.
