New Capitan Nurse Practitioner Familiar Face in Community

April 25, 2018

CAPITAN, N.M. – When nurse practitioner Linda Owen started her new position last month at the Presbyterian Medical Group Family Medicine clinic in Capitan, it felt like coming home.

Owen has lived in Alto, New Mexico for 24 years and worked in family medicine in Alamogordo before starting her new position at the Capitan clinic. She previously cared for patients at Lincoln County Medical Center in the 1990s.

She is particularly interested in health maintenance and weight management.

"I have always loved small town living and health care," Owen said. "It feels great to be back with Presbyterian and I hope to serve the routine health care needs in Capitan and surrounding areas."

Owen earned her bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Nevada in Reno in 1980 and went on to earn her master's degree from Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri in 2014. Owen and her husband, a veterinarian, first came to Lincoln County in 1994. She has two grown sons who graduated from Ruidoso High School, and recently became a grandparent for the first time.

"Linda brings wonderful experience in family medicine to benefit our patients," said Todd Oberheu, administrator of Lincoln County Medical Center. "We are thrilled to have her come 'home' to Capitan."

Clinic hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. Please contact 575-354-0057 to make an appointment.
