Presbyterian Hosts Annual Children’s Healthcare Fair

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Presbyterian’s annual Children’s Healthcare Fair Week kicked off this week with more than 1,000 Albuquerque-area elementary school children visiting Presbyterian Hospital to learn about what it’s like to stay or visit someone in the hospital.
The aim of the Presbyterian Children’s Fair is to teach kids what to expect if they or a family member is ever hospitalized and to learn why the hospital is not such a scary place after all.

WHAT: Presbyterian Children’s Healthcare Fair  
WHERE: Presbyterian Hospital – Main Lower Lobby
1100 Central Ave. SE
Albuquerque, NM
WHEN: Wednesday, September 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

DETAILS: Students will rotate through the following activity stations:

  • Kids will dress-up as doctors and nurses with teddy bears as their patients  
  • Kids will become familiar with medical equipment
  • Kids will stitch-up their teddy bear patients
  • Kids will have a real cast placed on their finger
  • Kids will examine x-rays of broken bones
  • Kids will learn about healthy living that effects your lungs and heart
  • Kids will see what it is like to be in a wheelchair and use crutches
