Frontline stories: Presbyterian Hospital nurse honors patients with paper roses

September 19, 2021 Featured In the News

Nurse Ashley Apodaca spent much of the pandemic as a charge nurse caring for COVID-19 patients on Presbyterian Hospital’s progressive care unit. To keep her "hands and head busy," she began making paper roses to honor her patients who died.

Learn more about Ashley’s story in the Albuquerque Journal as well as the toll that the pandemic, particularly the recent delta surge, has taken on frontline staff.

"Literally, someone's aunt, grandma or cousin is struggling to survive right now," she says.
